Boondocking
"Boondocking" is camping on public lands. National Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and Department of Fish and Wildlife are some of the public land management agencies that allow this. Some areas have designated "dispersed" sites, others not. You have no connections to water, electricity, septic, etc. You bring everything you need for the camp with you, and pack your garbage/waste out with you.
We sometimes boondock with our RV but it is not designed for offroad use and so is limited to well maintained primitive roads.
We have ordered a Timberleaf Pika for for future offroad boondocking. We will tow it with our Jeep Wrangler. We are very exited and looking forward to many adventures in it.
Arizona
We have camped several times in the Camp Wood area in Apache Creek Wilderness at the intersection of Forest Road 21 (Camp Wood Road) and 95 . Very serene and quiet. Open range cattle wander through the area. This is one of our favorite boon dock camp sites.
